Taking you back to 2009

You may have already seen this as this is the most common drama that people start out with, but if you haven’t, do give it a try. This show is best compared to junk food, being it a crazy addictive. Sometimes sloppy, sometimes cheesy and completely over-the-top, this drama is the definition of what we call a Crack Drama. High school setting, rich alpha hero, penniless spunky heroine, evil mom, and most importantly lots of eye candies who can act (the best combination); this drama has it all. But despite everything else this drama has a magic that draws you in and a heart that keeps you watching and before you know it you are searching up other K-Dramas to watch.

Lee Min-ho plays the male lead named Gu Jun-pyo, the heir to Shinhwa Group, a South Korean conglomerate aka Chaebol (Chaebol is a word used in Korea for a rich kid). A lifetime of being ignored by his parents while growing up as they were busy working turns him into an arrogant and conceited person. He believes that everything can be done with money but he starts to change when he meets the heroine who is one of the only people in his life who has the guts to stand up to him. Will he be able to prove that money can buy anything or will he accept the fact that a heart with purity can win over.

Gu Hye-sun plays the female lead named Geum Jan-di, a dry cleaner’s daughter who ends up receiving a scholarship to attend the elite Shinhwa school owned by the hero’s family. Kind-hearted and spunky she has the courage to stand up against what is wrong. She soon becomes the target of bullying herself but still doesn’t stop standing up to the hero, which in turn makes him fall for her.
